I think we need to offend if it opens eyes to the truth.Martihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03559847090671071342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-649461498660396623.post-17723439025843242082010-04-06T11:05:18.520-07:002010-04-06T11:05:18.520-07:00I wonder in this economy if the churches are hurti...I wonder in this economy if the churches are hurting. When you mentioned fluff, I remembered the story of Pollyanna and her aunts influence over his preaching of hell and brim stones.
And our own church the pastor retired and no one has been happy with the new ones or agreement on them since. Maybe fluff to keep ones position in the church, but what other position do they lose.
Nice post.
also.
Our ancestors sometimes had two occasions for a preacher. Or drove twenty or more miles just to be able to mingle with others during service. I think what must have mattered was the company of others, the sharing of like minded people. Sometimes you were going to catholic and you were lutheran or vicesa versa just to be going. I did that i college just to be a companion to another and learned a bit more.A rootdiggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02642330951208433671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-649461498660396623.post-91151623728464444532010-04-01T12:02:53.448-07:002010-04-01T12:02:53.448-07:00That is so true, that's what churches are lack...That is so true, that's what churches are lacking today, there just aren't enough Sr. pastors, college pastors, or youth pastors that will just lay it out there for you, regardless of what the congregation might think or feel. Most pastors today are preaching the kind of services that cause the people to shout in agreement with what he's saying, but few will actually preach the hard core truth of the Bible. Like with the story of Noah, we all know he built the ark, and the great things he did. But how often do we hear about what happened afterwards, when his sons found him passed out naked and two of them honored him by covering him?
Ugh, I could probably continue for a while on that, but i wont, besides I need to get to my Bible class..hahh. But I think you do have a really good point :)Abbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03734480311855576089noreply@blogger.com
